Test Preparation Instructions

Please follow the instructions below very closely to ensure the most accurate results of your procedure.

  • Nothing to eat or drink after midnight or 8 hours prior to exam.
  • If your exam requires oral contrast you may contact us at 912-355-7523 in order to pick-up your oral contrast prior to your appointment. Oral contrast must be taken over a 1-2 hours period prior to your CT scan.  Picking up your oral contrast ahead of time allows your exam to be completed quicker and avoids a long wait time for you!

All Other Contrast CT’s:

  • Nothing to eat or drink 4 hours prior to exam



  • You are required to fast four (4) hours prior to your appointment time (absolutely no food or drink other than water)
  • Other than Diabetic medications, you may take your regular medications as prescribed with water.
  • If you are diabetic, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance at 912-355-7523 for SPECIAL DIABETIC INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Please drink extra water the night before the exam and the day of the exam.
  • Please eat a low carb diet 24 hours prior to your scan.  Try to avoid sugars, breads and potatoes.
  • Refrain from heavy exercise 48 hours prior to the scan.
  • Please wear warm comfortable clothing preferable with no metal (zippers, rivets) or jewelry.
  • You can expect to be in the imaging center for about 2 hours.The actual scan time is variable depending on patient size but usually lasts about 20-30 minutes.
  • Following the exam, you will be free to leave and conduct normal activities.Continue to drink water for a couple of hours following the test.
  • Your results from the PET/CT scan will be available to your physician within 24-48 hours after the exam.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to ensure that the dose for your scan does not expire.

*** The cost for the PET/CT dose is vary expensive.  Pease notify us 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your PET/CT appointment for any reason.
